Mary Jane Landau

A Seattle native who has lived up and down the West Coast, across the Pacific in Vietnam, and in Hong Kong, surrounded by some of the finest examples of cuisine the world has to offer while growing up with her parents who entertained often in their formal dining room which sat 24 people.  You can say hospitality runs in her blood.

So, the transition to University of Denver’s Hospitality School came as no surprise.  However, she missed her own graduation for the BSBA in Hospitality and Restaurant Management because she achieved “Head of Catering” for the University and was now managing the event!  Later moving on to become Co-owner and Catering Director of Landau’s Restaurant in Bellevue, Washington in the late 80’s, to owning the At Home Cooking School in the mid-90’s, teaching the skills, techniques, cuisines and creativity of entertaining…at home.

Now Mary Jane operates Landau’s Catering and Events, bringing her wealth of knowledge and resources from 30 years of experience in the catering arena, exposure to world cuisines, and certification of floral design to Redmond and surrounding Washington…..  She enjoys nothing more than helping clients develop an event.

When Mary Jane is not in the kitchen baking or off to the latest site investigating the next party, you can find her teaching culinary classes, working in the garden, engaging with her children about current events or playing with the newest addition to the family, Coal, a black long-haired miniature dachshund.

David Landau

Born in Hong Kong to British and Australian parents and into a multi generational family of restaurateurs, David brings with him, an intuitive knowledge of the industry. Following a European tradition, he apprenticed in some of Europe’s finest hotels concluding with the Dorchester in London under Anton Mossiman.  Upon his return to Hong Kong, he took over the reins from his father, to run the world famous Jimmy’s Kitchen, and opened several other establishments including the original Landau’s Restaurant.

In 1985, he moved his family to the Northwest and subsequently, Landau’s Restaurant opened in Bellevue, Washington, acclaimed as one of the best restaurants in the Northwest, receiving local and national awards from Seattle’s Best Places, Travel-Holiday’s Fine Dining Guide in 1988, Bellevue Journal, and The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, to name a few.

Now, through the success of their catering services from Landau’s Restaurant and the At Home Cooking School comes Landau’s Catering and Events where David now operates a business that to him epitomizes the heart and soul of the hospitality industry.  His personal touch in/at/on every event ensures that each guest has a unique and memorable experience.  His gregarious nature adds a warm and embracing touch to each event that he oversees.

In addition to his business pursuits, David takes time to volunteer at a homeless shelter providing meals.  He loves to travel, read a good story, and revels in anything that involves the sea from swimming to boating.  His latest passion is fly fishing and when time permits, he loves nothing more than finding a lazy river, a trickle of sunshine, and the peace and tranquility that comes when casting rhythmically into the water, hoping for a ‘bump’.
